Here are our tips for designing premium marketing flyers:
BusinessPrinting.com specializes in high-quality, custom print products, not basic template designs.
Configure your product and our dynamic template generator gives you a blank template with the correct size, bleed, and trim. To try other specifications, simply change your options and generate a new template. The changes will be reflected in the new template.
Download the file, import it to a design program, and start creating. For existing designs, just copy it to the template and adjust as needed.
With Perfect ProofTM, you have total control of your project. No more guesswork. No more anxiety. No more limitations. All specifications - paper, folding, finishes and more - are included, so you know exactly what to expect when you receive your finished product.
Here is a typical turnaround scenario for requesting Perfect ProofTM
The USPS has specific design and mailing requirements for flyers. The size and aspect ratio of your folded flyer will determine the available postage options. From there, you’ll choose which available rate is the best fit for your campaign and budget. Save time, money, and effort by ensuring you know these requirements before you start designing your flyer mailer. Check out our Direct Mail Piece Design Page for more information about flyer mail campaigns.
Half Fold: One fold for two panels on each side of the page. This is great for business flyers that have larger paragraphs or images, such as menus for take-aways.
Tri Fold: Two folds for three panels. Great for marketing event schedules, trade shows, or just dividing your content into 3 distinct sections.
Z Fold: This fold is ideal for visuals and charts, or large images that span across multiple pages but need to be folded for ease of distribution. This fold works great for political campaigns.
Double Parallel Fold: Fold it in half, then in half again, in the same direction. This creates a total of 8 panels (four panels per side) — perfect for showcasing multiple products or services, or even an entire collection. It could also be used to reveal a large graphic or map.
French Fold: Folded in half one way, then folded in half the opposite way. This fold works well for a newsletter or an event schedule since it has a lot of space to work with once fully unfolded.
Roll Fold: Fold your flyer and continue rolling it over itself in the same direction. Use a roll fold to control the information your recipient sees first. This rolling opening is great for chronologically sensitive information.
Accordion Fold: Fold one panel, then continue folding back and forth. When fully unfolded, it's like an accordion from the side. Usually, there are between 8-10 panels in a true accordion fold (4-5 panels per side).
Gate Fold: Take the outer edges of your paper and fold them inwards until they almost meet, creating a "door" or "gate" reveal. Showcase a new product or collection with a gate fold, giving your item inside a true "big reveal."
Double Gate Fold: Take your gate fold and fold it in half — voila! This fold creates a "wow" effect when opening your folded flyer. It's a great way to catch attention, while still including all pertinent information in your flyer.
Nested Letter Fold: Most popular for newsletters. Utilize 6 sections for your message, and you'll get a bonus letter inside for a specific announcement, event schedule, or even site map.
Fold your flyer any way you find fit. It all depends on how you want to display your message.
Your file set up will depend on if your flyers print on one side or two sides.
If your flyers are for Front Only Printing, we will need a one-page PDF of the artwork, or a single JPG.
For double-sided or front & back flyer printing, we will need a two-page PDF, one page for the front and one page for the back, or you can send us two single-page PDFs — one for the front and one for the back. Likewise, you can upload two JPG files.
If your flyers are folded, you’ll be able to check the fold placement on your digital proof. If you are mailing your folded flyers, check out our Designing for Direct Mail page for more mailing design information.
If you are unsure of how to upload your flyer artwork so it prints correctly, please call our customer support team — we’re happy to help!
